MONEY THAT DESTROYS
ActionAid France
ActionAid France is an international solidarity organisation established to enable everyone to play an active role in building a world where fundamental rights are universally respected.
Thanks to the mobilisation of their activists and their commitment to international solidarity, ActionAid put pressure on governments and corporations to help build a fairer world, working alongside — and not in place of — the women and men who are fighting for the respect of their fundamental rights, particularly economic, social, and cultural rights.
In a report published in 2024 entitled “Money that destroys - Investigation into the links between BNP and the agro-industry”, the NGO ActionAid highlights the issues surrounding the massive financing of climate-damaging agro-industrial projects by banks. This financing contributes significantly to deforestation, land grabbing and the exacerbation of the climate crisis, while undermining the human rights and food sovereignty of local populations.
The report denounces the paradox whereby financial institutions continue to invest in destructive sectors despite their public commitments to move away from them, highlighting the need to break with these practices in order to support alternatives that respect human rights and the environment, such as agroecology and small-scale farming.
As part of the publication of this report, ActionAid France commissioned us to design an illustration to support their communication activities (report cover, social media, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, website, posters, etc.).
WHAT WE DID
This illustration had to visually reflect the issues raised by the report: the links between the financial sector - particularly BNP - and the destructive impacts of the agro-industry on human rights, the environment, and local communities.
Action Aid's request was to design a denunciatory, immediately evocative proposal, capable of challenging as much as it informs.
We 1) developed several concept proposals, then 2) designed the final illustration and 3) adapted its formats for 360° use to facilitate the graphic work related to the communication campaign.
